Something For Everyone

Case Mare has two paddle boards on site available for your use. We provide tie down/ractchet straps for your use to transport the boards to and from the beach. We also provide ankle leashes for the paddle boards. We recommend taking the board to Maho Bay, it is a lovely large, usually calm bay that is great for beginner paddle boards.

If you are interested in kayaking, we recommend renting from the beach shack at Cinnamon Bay. It is a great area to get out and explore from. You can kayak to several of the cays off St. John, or around to Maho Bay. We also recommend Arawak Expeditions for kayak tours., or VI Eco Tours

We provide 8 sets of adult snorkel gear at Casa Mare.Snorkeling can be done from most of the beaches on St. John. We recommend Waterlemon Cay, Salt Pond Bay and Maho Bay (lots of sea turtles!). Or, take a boat excursion and get to snorkel places that you cannot get to from right off the beach.

A large portion of St. John, USVI is National Park. Along with that are many wonderful hiking trails. We recommend stopping at the National Park Visitor’s Center and getting information about the park and hiking options. We also have guide books at the Villa to assist you in deciding the best hike for your group. Hiking on St. John definitely requires the appropriate shoes and lots of water to stay hydrated in the humid conditions. Please plan ahead accordingly.

The Reef Bay Hike is a very popular hike that we recommend. It is a full day park ranger guided hike. Please make reservations in advance by booking directly online here

St. John is home to over 30 beaches. They are all unique and wonderful in their own way. We recommend trying to get to as many as possible during your stay! Here are our favorites:

Maho Bay
